Considered one of the best spine surgeons in the world, Prof. Dr. Azmi Hamzaoğlu graduated from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1979 and started his residency at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology in the same year. In 1983, he became an Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist, Associate Professor in 1989 and then Professor in 1996. He worked at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology until 2004. He worked for two years at the Minnesota Spine Surgery Center in the USA, which is considered the best in the world in Spine Surgery. In 1991, he went to Japan and continued his studies at the University of Hokkaido, especially in the field of Spine Surgery. After 2003, he established both the orthopedic clinic and Turkey's first Spine Surgery Center at Florence Nightingale Hospital. Prof. Dr. Azmi Hamzaoğlu, who works with a team of 40 people in total and performs surgeries for training purposes in some difficult cases abroad, continues to work as the Chief of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Florence Nightingale Hospital and the 'Istanbul Scoliosis and Spine Center' he founded.
